Tim Walz is a former schoolteacher, US Army Officer, Governor of Minnesota, and Kamala Harris’ Vice-Presidential Running Mate!

Tim has a strong background in politics, first running for Congress in 2006 in winning a landslide victory and serving for over 10 years. He helped pass a multitude of legislation and was widely recognized as a bi-partisan member of the House, even ranking 7th most bipartisan member by the Bipartisan Index of the Lugar Center.

Tim Walz is an excellent choice for Vice President. He is a widely respected governor and member of Congress, a strong debater that could take on JD Vance, and an admired Army Officer that commands respect! Together with Kamala Harris, they will defeat the duo of weirdness that it JD Vance and Donald Trump!

• Early Life: Born on April 6, 1964, in West Point, Nebraska, to Darlene Rose Reiman and James F. Walz.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in social studies from Chadron State College and Master’s degree in education from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

• Career: High school social studies teacher and football coach in Alliance, Nebraska, and Mankato, Minnesota. Served in the Nebraska Army National Guard and Minnesota Army National Guard, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major in 2005.

• Politics: Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006, representing Minnesota’s 1st congressional district. Served five terms before being elected Governor of Minnesota in 2018.

• Governorship: Pushed for and signed various legislation, including tax modifications, free school meals, infrastructure development, gun background checks, abortion rights, and free college tuition for low-income families.

• Personal Life: Married to Gwen Whipple since 1994, with two children. Has spoken publicly about his decision to stop drinking after a DWI incident in 1995.

• Vice Presidential Nomination: Chosen by Vice President Kamala Harris as her running mate in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

• Interests: Enjoys Diet Mountain Dew over alcohol and has been described as having “Midwestern ‘dad vibes’”. Speaks some Mandarin Chinese, having taught English in China through a Harvard University-affiliated program in 1989.
